The Hell Butterfly

About

I began this blog a few years back, and have experienced a lot in that time. I have grown and matured as a writer, and as a human being. I don’t know what to say about myself that my poetry can’t say for me, if you care to delve into the intricacies of those then you may discover that, yes, there is some deep seated pain in this soul of mine. But from great pain, can come great art. Poetry, and I suppose writing in general, is how I express myself. Sometimes it’s the only way I know how.

Why is this blog called Jigokucho? Jigokucho is loosely translated from Japanese as Hell Butterfly. A Hell Butterfly is the method in which members of the Soul Society in the anime Bleach communicate with each other.Ā  The best way to describe how I interpret it, is that a Soul Reaper records a ‘thought message’ within a Hell Butterfly and releases it. It will then fly to the recipient and relay the message. By calling my blog Jigokucho I hope to convey the idea that each of my blog posts is meant, in some way, as a message to you, the reader. Whether I’m simply moaning about stupid people, fangirling over a book or program, telling you something about myself, or passing on the inspiration and hope that I’ve received from someone else … the Hell Butterfly is my way of relaying those messages to you.

This blog is for me. I don’t add new things regularly, but when I do it’s for me. I enjoy sharing my thoughts, experiences, emotions, with others. But mostly I use writing as a form of internal processing, and I’m okay with that. Posting on this blog, in whatever form it may be, is a way of being vulnerable, open to judgement, and developing a long sought after bravery. This is for me.

This is also for you. This is for everyone. This is a difficult world that we live in, and communication is more important than ever. I may post whatever I feel is important for me to say, but it is just as important to me that others be involved, talk with each other in a friendly and supportive way, and that we as a community can build each other up in a safe environment. The Hell Butterfly – the message platform – is a safe space where I’d love for people to feel comfortable talking. To me, to each other, discussing what is on your mind, your thoughts on topics I have posted about. But also ideas for things you want me to talk about too. Things you would like help with. This is for me, and for you, for us all. You are a part of this. A message has a recipient, and cannot live without further discussion. Let’s talk. I want to hear from you.

I loved your post about men in general. Yes, being gay it is discouraging that most of them are thirsty animals, but being partially picky can definitely save you from some toxic relationships. Keep blogging!
